There are officially 88 recognised star constellations, and the constellation your star is located in will dictate what time of the year it will be overhead and therefore visible from the UK. For this reason and to guarantee viability from the UK, we only allow a purchase from a constellation that resides in the northern hemisphere.

If you would like to coincide the visibility of your star with an important date, such as a birthday or wedding anniversary we suggest you upgrade to select a constellation yourself such as Virgo, Aries and Leo.

Supplied within your chosen gift set will be the required information to help you locate the star.

You will also have free lifetime access to our star finder web app, designed to make it easier to find your named star in the night sky. This works from any location in the world. Visit the WSR Star Finder and enter your star registration number which is printed on your certificate. 

To get the best from the star finder web app, it is best viewed using a desktop PC, laptop or tablet computer. Further and full details will be included in your gift pack.

Your star will be located in the northern hemisphere, so it will be visible from the UK (at certain times of the year). If you choose our standard Name a Star Gift package, then unfortunately we cannot guarantee that you will be able to see your star with the naked eye, and you may require a telescope to do so, (unless you purchase the Bright, or Extra bright upgrade options)

We would always recommend upgrading the brightness of your star selection, to aid in the visibility from areas with background light pollution (major towns and cities). Ordering our Extra Bright Stars would guarantee viability from the UK with the naked eye.

Yes, you can name more than one star from the same constellation, meaning they will be closer together in the night sky. To do so, you would need to complete two separate registrations, while selecting the same constellation for each.

We also have a Twin Stars option which will automatically select two stars that are visibly near to each other. This would be an ideal option for couples eg: Anniversaries and Valentine’s day.

Purchasing a gift package form the World Star Register® should be done with the understanding that you are purchasing a heartfelt personalised novelty gift. The World Star Register® is an independent commercial registry, separate to NASA and the IAU (International Astronomers Union) who keep their own records. Therefore, your star name will not be recognised by those bodies and only recognised by and be viewable in the World Star Register®.

Your star name will be entered into the World Star Register® for life without the need for further purchase.

Yes we do, and you have two choices.

If you are not completely satisfied with the star that has been named for you, then we can exchange it for a different one free of charge. Or if you would prefer a refund, this must be initiated within 30 days from the purchase date, and the gift pack returned to us within 35 days for a full refund.

Share the Meaning: When you present your star naming gift, share the meaning behind the chosen name. This can make the gift even more special and memorable.There is also space on the star registration certificate to include a personal message or verse.
